Academy Wide Announcements

  • Closing Ceremonies, Crossing of the Green is 6/8: The Academy will have its Closing Ceremonies on the morning of Thursday, June 8. The Upper School Closing Ceremony will take place in McAuley Hall, and the Lower School Closing Ceremony in the LS Gymnasium from 8:30-10:15 AM. Following the conclusion of each, the entire Academy will come together at 10:30 AM to watch the Crossing of the Green: the celebrated tradition that sees the 7th Graders run from the Lower School side of the Green to the Upper School side. 

  • iPad Collection concludes on 6/6 and 6/7: 6th & 7th Graders will return their iPads and chargers on Tuesday, June 6 at 11:30 AM following their last exam, and 8th Graders will return their iPads and chargers on Wednesday, June 7 before or after their last exam that morning. All students will have a final opportunity to turn in iPads and chargers on Wednesday, June 7. Failure to return an iPad will result in a fee of $350. iPads should remain in cases, unless student is not returning in August. Each iPad will be tagged with the owner/user name and grade. All pictures and videos should be deleted. Students should sign out of any personal Apple ID in place in the App Store and iCloud. iPads should be returned fully charged and will be powered off during collection. If there is damage, parents will receive an email requesting the repair fee of $150. Contact Cindy Rudy at with any questions.

Lower School Announcements

  • Extended Care is open through 6/7! There will be half days of school on Friday, June 2 and on June 5-7, and Extended Care WILL be open! Students will need to bring a full lunch. Snacks will continue to be provided in the afternoon each day. The fee for the half day is $20 per student. Extended Care is open to Lower School students only. There will be no Extended Care on Thursday, June 8. If you have any questions, contact Scottie Boyd at

  • Pick up medication by 6/8: Please be sure to stop by the Lower School clinic and pick up your student's medication no later than noon on Thursday, June 8. All medication that is not picked up will be discarded. All medication orders must be renewed each year (please keep this in mind for summer doctor visits). NO MEDICATION WILL BE SENT HOME WITH THE STUDENTS.
  • Rising 8th Graders invited to Wild About Walsingham: Current 7th Graders/Rising 8th Graders are invited to participate in "Wild About Walsingham," a two-day program specifically designed for students entering the Upper School as an 8th Grader. Wild About Walsingham is a transition program led by various Upper School faculty and student mentors taking place on August 9-10 from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. Students will participate in experiential team building activities, complete a general Upper School orientation, and work on academic skills needed to be successful as an Upper School student. It is highly recommended all rising 8th Graders attend. We are aiming for 100% participation! Click here to reserve a complimentary spot in Wild About Walsingham today!

  • Immunization information for rising 6th Graders: The State Law requires all 6th Grade students to have an updated tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (TDap) booster immunization prior to entry into school this fall. Please contact your doctor or health department to complete this requirement. Be sure to provide the immunization documentation to the Lower School Clinic prior to the start of school in August 2017.

Athletics Announcements

  • Fall sports coaches sought: Walsingham is seeking to fill the following head coaching positions for the 2017 fall sports season: Varsity Girls Tennis, JV Girls Tennis, and JV Boys Soccer. In addition, assistant coaching positions are available for Boys Soccer and Field Hockey. All interested parties should contact Director of Athletics Neil Bailey at or (757) 259-1425.
  • Youth Basketball Camp is 7/10-13: Mark your calendars! Neil Bailey's Youth Basketball Camp runs from July 10-13. Open to students entering Grades 3-7, the goal of the camp is to provide instruction in the fundamentals of basketball to boys and girls in a fun environment. Click here for more.
