The varsity soccer team opened their season with a 4-0 win over Grace Christian of Mechanicsville. Will Patterson ‘24 led the offense, scoring three goals on multiple chances against the Grace Christian defense. His first goal came just two minutes into the games off a long pass by Cooper Bailey ‘24, who finished with two assists, as Walsingham dominated possession throughout the game. Ethan Hayes ’23 controlled the middle of the field for the Trojans also scoring a goal and adding an assist. Keith Cardenas ’23 was also key to the Trojan offense with an assist and several nice plays.  Max Lubsen ’24 made his debut in the goal for Walsingham, helping the Trojans to a clean sheet to start the season.

The varsity field hockey team went back to school today fresh off a 3-2 win vs. crosstown opponent Jamestown High School. The game was very back and forth and required the team to dig deep. Noelle Kokolis’ started the game with a great shot on a corner play with an assist from Hailey Diggs ’24. Jamestown was quick to bounce back, and the score was tied 1-1 at the half. Jamestown was first to strike as the Trojans began to struggle after halftime, however, they quickly pulled it together and Noelle was able to score on an assist from Piper Jones ’26. With only a few minutes left in the game, it was looking like a potential overtime situation. Until Elizabeth Hamner '24, with two and a half minutes left in the game, broke away from the defense and had a powerful shot from the top of the circle. The Trojans were able to hold off the Eagles for the win! Trojan field hockey is now 2-0 as they also won against Covenant last week 6-0.

Varsity soccer returns to the field tomorrow at 4:30pm at home as they face Division I Benedictine. Varsity field hockey also plays at home tomorrow at 4:30pm looking to hold of TCIS opponent Catholic High School. Come out and support the Trojans!
