National Signing Day was this week and Walsingham had two student-athletes sign letters of intent to play Division I baseball! Luke Harlow is a senior centerfielder who signed with Ohio State University, and Sean Sousa is a first baseman who signed with George Washington University. Luke and Sean have been instrumental parts of our Trojan baseball team for years. They have won four state championships together and were also on the team that won the first TCIS Championship in school history.
Walsingham Athletic Director, Neil Bailey, said to these star players at the signing, "your talent on the baseball field, willingness to put in the hard work, and your continued success is part of your legacy here as a Walsingham Trojan."
Coach Ian Heisel also had many kind words about Luke and Sean. "For years these two have modeled to our younger guys how we go about this the right way. This entire senior class is extremely special. These guys are winners and as a coach I am just proud. It stinks because I have to let them go soon, but that being said this will always be home for them."
Both Luke and Sean's comments came from a place of gratitude. They mentioned how thankful they are for their strong faith and families. "I couldn't ask for better teammates or a better school," said Sousa. Harlow adding, "many talk about the journey or the destination, to me it's the people. I didn't do this by myself. Thank you all so much."
Humble and wise words and examples from two of Walsingham Academy's finest student-athletes and "people."
