This week’s Athlete of the Week is Jacob Thibeault ’23 from the varsity swimming team. This is Jacob Thibeault’s first year at Walsingham, making him new to the team this year.
Last Friday, Jacob and his teammates hosted the Walsingham Academy Invitational Meet at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex. Jacob had an outstanding meet to help lead the Trojans to a third-place finish overall. Jacob finished first in both the 50 backstroke and the 100 backstroke, setting personal best times in both events. He also finished third in the 50 freestyle with another personal record. Jacob also swam backstroke in the boys 200 medley relay and the team’s time of 1:57.09 qualified their relay team for the state meet. Overall, Jacob scored 56 points for the team!
In addition to his outstanding performance at last week’s meet, Jacob has shown outstanding commitment, dedication, and hard work in his first year with the Trojans. He arrives early each day for practice, takes initiative to help set up the pool, and offers helpful feedback on workouts and meets. He demonstrates strong leadership qualities and is always encouraging his teammates. He has meshed seamlessly with the team and is an asset in both swimming talent and team spirit.
The Trojans continue their season next week with meets against Norfolk Collegiate and Williamsburg Christian Academy.
Congratulations Jacob, and Go Trojans!
