Athlete Of The Week For 10/4 - 10/9: Will Patterson

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Will Patterson ’24 from the varsity boys’ soccer team. Will has played soccer at Walsingham for the last six years and this is his second season on the varsity team.

Last week, Will and his teammates had two important TCIS games as they tried to climb the conference standings and state rankings heading into the final stretch of the season. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the Trojans traveled to Norfolk Christian to open their week. Walsingham emerged from the game with a 4-1 win thanks to an outstanding offensive performance from Will. The Trojans’ coaches moved Will to center attacking midfield, a more offensive-minded position, for the game and Will responded by scoring three goals to lead the Trojans to victory.

On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Trojans took on Peninsula Catholic in another TCIS matchup. With Will still in the CAM position, he scored two more goals, including one on a penalty kick, to lead the Trojans to a 4-2 win. With five goals on the week, Will is now tied with Sebby Vishton ’24 for the team lead with nine goals.

The Trojans are now 7-4-1 and 2-3-1 in the TCIS as they head into the final two weeks of the regular season. They will play road games at Norfolk Collegiate and Steward this week before concluding their conference play with a home game against Catholic next week.

Congratulations Will, and Go Trojans!
