This week, the Athlete of the Week is Ethan Hayes ’23 from the varsity boys’ soccer team. Ethan has been at Walsingham since Kindergarten and has played soccer for the Trojans since fifth grade. He has been a key player for the varsity team since his eighth grade season. As a junior last year, Ethan earned all-TCIS honors. Ethan leads the Trojans this year as a captain.

Last week, Ethan led the team to a 5-0 win over TCIS foe Norfolk Christian and was stellar in defeat on Saturday night in the tough loss to HRA.  During the Norfolk Christian win on Tuesday, Ethan scored a header off an assist from Keith Cardenas ’23 to put the Trojans up 2-0 and helped lead the Trojans to the shutout as a center midfielder.  On Saturday, playing rival HRA, Ethan’s leadership was on display in the tough loss to the Navigators. Ethan played a primarily defensive role for the Trojans as that what was determined to best help his team. His communication from the backfield was an important factor in the very close game. The Trojans will continue to look to Ethan for his leadership and veteran experience as they try to make a place for themselves in TCIS play and the State Tournament.

Trojan soccer returns to action on Thursday at TCIS opponent Cape Henry Collegiate.  Way to go Ethan and Go Trojans!
