We are excited to announce that Jeylah Hamrick ‘24 from the Varsity Track & Field Team is this week’s Athlete of the Week!! Jeylah had 2 great performances in last week’s TCIS Championship and State Catholic Championship Meets. 

On Tuesday, the Trojans traveled to Norfolk Academy to participate in the TCIS Conference Championship Meet. Jeylah was spectacular, winning all four events she participated in, the 300-meter hurdles, long jump, the 200-meter dash, and the 100-meter dash. Not only did Jeylah win these events, she set TCIS Championship Meet records in the 200 with a 25.08, the long jump with 18’1 ¾’’, and the 300-meter hurdles with a 43.97. She also broke two of her own school records in this impressive display. Jeylah was named the TCIS Girls Athlete of the Year.  

On Saturday, the team traveled up to Chantilly for the State Catholic Meet, where Jeylah continued to shine. She set three State Catholic Meet Records, and won three of her events outright, and tied for first in one event. Jeylah was named the State Catholic Athlete of the Meet for her performance in the meet.

Jeylah is signed to run at Radford University next year. The Track and Field Team and the school will miss her and wish her all the best going forward.
