Walsingham Academy is the only school in Virginia sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. As a Mercy School, we strive not only to prepare our students for future academic endeavors but also for their role in the world at large by instilling in them dignity, integrity, respect, compassion, and service. These Mercy Core Values act to prepare students to be caring members of a global society and successful adults in tomorrow's world.

A Catholic education has long been associated with high academic standards, values-added education and a safe school environment. Standardized test scores and a high college acceptance rate reflect that the Catholic school student is self- disciplined, self-motivated, responsible and creative. In addition to a strong academic program, Catholic education adds the significant "plus" of religious, moral and spiritual development. While not all students at Walsingham are Catholic, all share experiences of faith and values.

Walsingham enrolls students starting in our Pre-K 3 year old program at the Lower School all the way through their senior year at the Upper School. This offers unique educational continuity and opportunities for wonderful traditions such as the Crossing of the Green, where our 7th graders transition to their place at the Upper School. Walsingham offers your child the ability to form and maintain lasting relationships with friends, faculty, and coaches while developing a sense of pride and community.

Our Difference

Walsingham Academy is the only private school in Williamsburg to offer your child the life-long advantages of an exceptional Catholic-based education. What makes us truly special is that we are the only co-educational, PreK-12, Mercy School in the United States.
