Walsingham Hosts State Catholic Cross Country Championship

Walsingham Academy hosted the State Catholic Cross Country Meet at Eastern State Hospital on Tuesday. In all, there were 11 schools competing.

Clare Kinney led Walsingham's girls with an eighth-place finish, achieving All-State Catholic honors. Frankie Riggs was the second runner across for the Trojans, finishing 16th. Overall, the varsity girls finished 6th. Bishop Ireton won the team title and St. John Paul the Great was 2nd.

Patrick Murphy had another excellent race for Walsingham, winning by 20 seconds over Roanoke's Daniel Connelly. St. John Paul the Great won the boys' team title, with Peninsula Catholic coming in second. Ethan Ricker was the second runner across the finish line for the Trojans finishing 22nd with a time 36 seconds faster than he's ever run the Eastern State course. Walsingham varsity boys finished in a tie for 5th place with Bishop Ireton.
