The varsity girls basketball team faced off against fellow TCIS member Peninsula Catholic on Tuesday night. Both teams entered the game looking for their first TCIS win of the season.

The Trojans entered play on Tuesday with just six active players as two starters were out sick and another two players were out with injuries. The outnumbered team did not back down and all six players stepped up to the challenge.

The Trojans handled their opponents' press all night and took a 9-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the lead had expanded to 24-14 as the Knights had no answer for Trojans forward Julia Wilson '22. The Trojans continued to pull away in the third quarter and eventually emerged with a 52-36 victory.

Julia Wilson had another outstanding game, leading the Trojans with 29 points and 22 rebounds while adding three steals and two blocks. Porter Marshall '20 took over as the primary ball-handler and did an excellent job as she scored seven points while dishing out five assists. Becky Villeda '22 had six six points, while grabbing five rebounds, and three steals. Frankie Riggs '20 had a huge game scoring a season-high five points while grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds! Rachel Owens '22 added five points and Emma Grace Baker '22 did a great job on the boards in extended minutes.

The Trojans will return to action immediately as they go on the road again to take on St. Margaret's School on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
