The varsity field hockey team took to their home field Tuesday for the first round of the TCIS Invitational tournament. A new league format had the Trojans, the number five seed, playing the eighth-seeded Norfolk Collegiate Oaks.

Play started great for the Trojans as they were able to put the Oaks on the defensive right from the opening whistle. Only stellar play from the Oaks goalkeeper kept the Trojans off the board early on in the game. With continued offensive pressure and outstanding passing, Noelle Kokolis put the Trojans on top with an incredible shot to the far post. The 1-0 score held up through the first half and the Trojans went into halftime with confidence.

The second half saw our defense continue to stifle all the Oaks' offensive threats and then senior Martha Page Norsworthy was able to break down the defense of the Oaks and score an unassisted goal to give the Trojans a bit of breathing room with a 2-0 lead.

Our team continued to defend as a unit and attack out of the midfield. When the final whistle blew, the Trojans celebrated a 2–0 victory. The team will play HRA on Thursday at 4 p.m. on our home field in the finals of the TCIS Invitational. Please come out and support the Trojans!
