Walsingham Academy swimmers competed in the Norfolk Collegiate Invitational on Dec. 7, putting on an impressive performance including wins in five events.
Maggie Menoni secured solo victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:31.24) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.67), as well as in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.18) along with Maddie Nassabi, Olivia Robinson and Grace Weeks; and in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:26.03) with Nassabi, Robinson, and Jocelyn Covaney.
Two Trojans finished atop the leaderboard in the girls 100-yard backstroke with Joceyln Covaney winning with a time of 1:12.42 and Olivia Robinson right behind her in second place with a time of 1:18.43.
There was also a double dose of Trojans toward the top of the results in the girls 100-yard freestyle with Grace Weeks finishing second with a time of 1:07.31 and Emma Lobash in third with a time of 1:13.24. Same goes for the 50-yard freestyle with Grace Weeks again in second place with a time of 29.17 and Maddie Nassabi just behind her in third with a time of 30.05.
Olivia Clark also performed well, finishing fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:26.67.
On the boys' side, the relay team of Will Wyles, Brendan Bouchard, David Carter and Jake Falcone finished second in two events. In the 200-yard medley relay they finished with a time of 2:12.61 and in the 200-yard freestyle relay they finished with a time of 2:00.05.
Will Wyles also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:33.01 and in third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.60.
David Carter just missed a win in the 100-yard butterfly by about one second with a time of 1:06.20. He also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley.
Jake Falcone also had two strong individual events, finishing fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle.
