Lower School Gym Receives Beautiful Upgrade, New Name Thanks To Auction Donations
Walsingham Academy

The beginning of the 2019-2020 school year meant the debut of the newly renovated Lower School gymnasium, now named Mercy Hall.

The incredible transformation of Mercy Hall was made possible thanks to the generous support from our sponsors, donors and guests of the 48th Annual Dinner and Auction in February. The auction raised an all-time high of $141,000.

"Walsingham Academy is indeed fortunate to benefit from the thoughtful generosity of its many supporters," Director of Advancement Lindsey Torres said. "With the funds raised from last year's auction, Mercy Hall has been revitalized, enhancing the Walsingham experience for students, faculty, staff and friends."

The upgrades to Mercy Hall include:

  • Flooring featuring updated logos and colors
  • Windows and window treatments
  • Fresh painting
  • Upgraded lighting
  • Wall pads and basketball backboards

"The name change serves as a daily reminder of what makes us special as a Mercy school," Lower School Director Jenafer Naswadi said. "The physical upgrades of the new floor, lighting and windows provide a safe and beautiful space for our students to utilize each and every day."

The 49th Annual Dinner and Auction is set for Feb. 29, 2020, at Kingsmill Resort. Funds raised will help to refresh McAuley Hall in the Upper School and provide new computers for the Lower School computer lab. Tickets are on sale now!
