In their last official act, CIAO, an Italian club in Williamsburg, presented Walsingham Academy with grants totaling $5,750 to help provide financial assistance to students.

CIAO's remaining assets—more than $3,500—were presented as the Robert A. Rescigno Memorial Grant. Rescigno was a long-time CIAO member in various positions. Most recently, he was the president of the foundation until just a few months before his passing in February 2018. Additionally, Giuliana Rescigno presented Walsingham with the Family & Friends of Robert A. Rescigno Memorial Education Grant of more than $1,300. Elaine Smith presented Walsingham with the Family & Friends of Lawrence Smith Memorial Education Grant of $885.

For many years, Walsingham Academy hosted CIAO's Italian Festivals at no cost. Staff and students of Walsingham often pitched in with the festival.

"I have been blessed with many gifts during my 30 years at Walsingham Academy. One of those is the relationships I have made with members of the Williamsburg community," Walsingham Academy President Sister Mary Jeanne said. "The relationship Walsingham has had with CIAO over the years has been nothing short of fruitful. I can't thank them enough."

We appreciate the support CIAO has provided Walsingham Academy for more than a decade.
