This week's Athlete of the Week is Olivia Clark '20. Olivia is a member of the girls tennis program and this is her fourth season as a member of the varsity team. Olivia is also a co-captain for the varsity tennis team this year.
Last week, Olivia and her teammates picked up two TCIS wins, beating Bishop Sullivan and HRA in back-to-back matches. The Trojans defeated Bishop Sullivan 8-1 on Monday with Olivia picking up wins at #1 doubles and #4 singles. However, it was Wednesday's match at HRA where Olivia had her shining moment.
After a win at #2 doubles with her partner, Liz Barry '20, Olivia once again competed at #4 singles. Olivia narrowly defeated her opponent 7-5 in the first set but dropped the second set 6-4 which forced a tiebreaker. Not only would this tiebreaker decide who gets the point for the match, but all other points had been decided and the match was tied at 4-4, meaning that this tiebreaker would determine the winning team. It was a competitive and back-and-forth tiebreaker but Olivia fought hard and won the final three points to win the tiebreaker 10-7! This gave the Trojans the 5-4 victory and their first win over HRA since the girls tennis program was revived five years ago!
The Trojans are now 6-4 on the season and will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Norfolk Christian for another TCIS match on Friday.
Congratulations Olivia, and Go Trojans!!
