This week's athlete of the week is Emma Lobash '22. Emma is a member of the varsity girls' cross country team and this is her third season on the varsity team.
Last week, Emma and her teammates competed in the VISAA State Championship Meet at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. Emma had an impressive performance at the meet, running 1:14 seconds faster than she did the week before at TCIS. Emma led the Walsingham girls with a time of 22:31, good for 49th out of 242 runners, continuing Emma's run of being the first Trojan girl across the line in all three of this season's championship races.
In addition to being the fastest female on the team, Emma was a standout leader. She guided and mentored the JJV and JV team at practices, as well as assisted with their warm-ups and preparation for meets. She also managed team communications throughout both the summer and fall seasons, ensuring her teammates were informed about upcoming events, dismissals, and schedule changes. Her leadership was a tremendous asset to the team.
The Trojans wrapped up their season with a 14th-place finish out of 28 teams at the State Meet and many of those athletes will now transition to winter sports.
Congratulations Emma, and go Trojans!
