This week's athlete of the week is Olivia LeJeune '20. Olivia is a member of the varsity girls' basketball team and this is her fourth season playing at the varsity level for the Trojans.
Last week, Olivia and her teammates hosted three games during Catholic Schools Week. After a tough loss on Tuesday, the Trojans bounced back with wins on Thursday and Friday to cap off the week. On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Trojans defeated Peninsula Catholic, 43-21. Olivia scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds while adding an assist and a steal. On Friday, Jan. 31, the Trojans hosted Christchurch on Spirit Night. As one of the senior captains of the team, Olivia had a strong showing and helped lead the Trojans to a 47-37 victory. Olivia scored nine points while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists.
The Trojans are now 11-7 on the year and have far surpassed last year's win total of five. The Trojans are currently ranked #11 in the latest VISAA Division III poll and hope to return to the state tournament for the first time since 2017. The Trojans' next game is Friday, Feb. 7, at Norfolk Academy, and they will finish their regular season next week with a home game on Thursday, Feb. 13, which will be Senior Night for Olivia and her lone senior teammate, Frankie Riggs.
Congratulations Olivia, and go Trojans!!
