Due to snow days and exams, this week's Athlete of the Week will be a cumulation of performances over the last two weeks. This week's Athlete of the Week is Julia Wilson '22. Julia is a member of the Walsingham girls basketball program and this is her second year on the varsity team.
On Thursday, Dec. 6, Julia helped lead the team to their first win of the season as they defeated Portsmouth Christian 41-16. Julia dominated the game on both ends of the floor, finishing with 18 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 4 steals.
On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the Trojans traveled to Richmond to take on Veritas School. Julia again filled up the stat sheet, accumulating 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocks. The Trojans were able to cut the deficit down to just 5 points in the second half but eventually ran out of gas as Veritas went on to win the game.
On Friday, Dec. 14, Julia and her teammates returned to action against Suffolk Christian Academy. Thanks to 21 points, 12 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 6 steals from Julia, the Trojans were able to pull away and win 45-25.
As a freshman in just her second year at the varsity level, Julia has been a standout leader both on and off the court. She currently leads the Trojans in points, rebounds, blocks, steals, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and many more statistical categories.
The Trojans will continue their season with a home game on Wednesday, Dec. 19, against Tidewater Academy at 4:30 p.m. before they head into Christmas break.
Congratulations Julia, and Go Trojans!!
