This week's Athlete of the Week is Nathan Wildasin '19. Nate is on the varsity baseball team and this is his second season as a member of the baseball program here at Walsingham.
Last week, Nate and the rest of the varsity baseball team had four games, including tough conference match-ups with Steward and Norfolk Christian and a doubleheader against North Cross in Roanoke. On Wednesday, April 3, the Trojans hosted Steward and Nate led the Trojans offense with his first career varsity home run, but unfortunately the Trojans came up short against a tough Spartans team.
On Thursday, April 4, the Trojans traveled to Norfolk Christian for another big TCIS showdown. With the Trojans trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning, Nathan lined a single to left field to start a rally that saw Walsingham score two runs to come back and win 2-1.
On Saturday, April 6, the Trojans played a doubleheader at North Cross. After extending his hitting streak in the first game, Nate capped off the week in a big way as he finished off the second game with a no-doubt home run to left field for a walk-off grand slam to give the Trojans a 15-4 victory.
The Trojans are now 10-4 on the season and remain #1 in the VISAA Division III poll after winning the state championship for the first time last season. Next up is a big home game against TCIS power Greenbrier Christian on Thursday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m.
Congratulations Nathan, and Go Trojans!!
